groningen vs heracles Tip Reason:

Groningen sit nine places and eleven points behind Saturday’s guests Heracles at the halfway point in the 2018/19 Eredivisie season, and the hosts need a win to help put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Heracles could move up two places and into fourth spot with a win on Saturday and have a decent record against Groningen over the last couple of seasons. Groningen could only manage a goalless draw away at newly promoted Fortuna Sittard last time out, despite the hosts playing the entire second half with ten-men. Midfielder Smeets was shown a straight red card on the stroke of halftime, but Fortuna Sittard adapted well to being a man down and both teams will probably feel a little disappointed not to have won the game. Groningen had more corners and more shots on target then their hosts, but a combination of poor finishing and some good saves helped to see this match end 0-0. Despite the stats suggesting that Heracles trip to Excelsior was a fairly even match, the visitors ran out 3-0 winners and on another day would have converted more of their chances. Goals from top scorer Peterson and teammate Kuwas saw Heracles leading 2-0 at the break, and Mohammed Osman ended any hopes of a comeback for the hosts when he scored the visitors third and final goal of the game in the second half. The two teams split the possession evenly and Excelsior had ten shots during the ninety minute, but Heracles hit the target seven times and saw twelve efforts go off target so could and should have won the game by a greater margin. When these two sides met back in October for their reverse league fixture Groningen took the lead through Moroccan winger Mahi, but ended up losing the game 4-1. Adrián Dalmau leveled the teams in the twenty-fifth minute and put Heracles in front a minute into the second half. Not to be outdone, Kuwas scored a brace of his own in the final quarter of the match to wrap up an impressive comeback win for Heracles. Neither of these two teams are in good form heading into Saturday’s game, but with two wins, two draws, and two defeats its Groningen who earn the title of form favourites. Mahi top scores for the hosts with five league league goals this season, and Groningen will miss Japan’s Doan who is away at the Asian Cup and has chipped in with four goals in the Eredivisie. Peterson is already into double figures in league goals this season and will be looking to add to his tally of ten on Saturday. We’re confident that over 3.5 goals will be scored in Saturday’s game, and have backed Heracles to run out 3-2 winners. Four of the last six meetings between these two clubs have produced over 3.5 goals, and Heracles are unbeaten in the last three meetings and have won three of the last six matches between the two teams. Three of Heracles last four matches have featured over 3.5 goals, and we’re expecting to see another goals filled game this weekend.
