hamilton vs aberdeen Tip Reason:

Aberdeen were held to a draw with Stenhousemuir at the weekend, which means they are heading for a replay with the League One outfit in the Scottish Cup. It’s another blow to the Dons, who have been left in fourth after years of being Celtic’s closest challengers in the Premiership. However, Aberdeen can continue their bid for the title this week, as they come into Wednesday’s meeting with Hamilton only three points shy of first place. Could their hopes of finishing top get a boost with three points at the Accies? The hosts are dulling over their exit from the Scottish Cup, after a 2-0 loss at St Johnstone on Saturday. The hosts have spent the season down at the bottom of the Premiership, while recent struggles have seen them fighting off the drop in the last few seasons. Recent form has put them in a similar position, they’re only two points clear of 11th, and four ahead of last-placed Dundee. A cup loss hardly helped the Accies, and we struggle to see them turning their form around in this clash. Aberdeen come here making a push for a European place, while they’re in the four-way fight for the title. It’s both their best and worst chance at glory in the league. They’ve struggled to keep the pace with Celtic over the last few years, but often they were the only side even close. Now Rangers and Kilmarnock sit between them and the Bhoys, so it’s a highly competitive race. The Dons need to quickly get over their weekend slip up and focus on a result here. The visitors have been made the favourites for this one, which is hardly surprising based on how they’re both playing. Hamilton have lost six of their last seven, with their last win coming on the opening day of December. Aberdeen have won their last three trips, while they’ve won five and drawn one of their last seven. In the league, the Dons have won five of their last six, a run we’re backing to continue here. The Dons are facing a Hamilton side who have averaged less than a goal per game at home this term. Meanwhile, the visitors haven’t really been that high scoring. Aberdeen have seen 100% of their away trips finish with fewer than four goals scored, while 80% of the Accies’ home clashes have seen under 3.5 goals. That should give us a tighter game on Wednesday. We’re backing an away win and under 3.5 goals, which looks like great value.
