st-johnstone vs livingston Tip Reason:

There are only four points between St Johnstone and Livingston ahead of Wednesday’s meeting at McDiarmid Park. They sit just on the edge of the top and bottom half, with Saints holding sixth place. However, while the pair are quite close – that doesn’t tell the full story ahead of their meeting this week. While one of these two look to be on the up, the other seems to be slipping down the table after some poor form. St Johnstone progressed in the Scottish Cup on Saturday, seeing off Hamilton with a 2-0 win at home. That made it three straight victories for the Saints, who are also on a run of three straight clean sheets in all competitions. That’s helped them progress in the cup and keep a hold of sixth place in the Premiership, but will they carry that run into Wednesday’s clash? They’ll certainly be aiming to use that momentum to end a four-game winless run at home in the league, and this is a perfect opportunity. Livingston head into this clash on the back of a cup exit, they were beaten 1-0 in their visit to Hearts on Sunday. Their first season back in the top half has been a success so far, but that didn’t stop the Saints from claiming a 1-0 win when the pair met back in November. While they’ve had a strong campaign, things haven’t been easy for the visitors of late. They’re five games without a victory now, a run which could be extended here. Saints have boosted their form with some fine defensive form this term. They kicked off a great run at the back, conceding in just three of their last 12 games. That run started after a 6-0 thumping by Celtic, and they’ve certainly picked up since then. They’ve got a recent streak of clean sheets, and their win over Hamilton should boost them ahead of this clash with Livingston. Their chances of adding another clean sheet are high – the visitors have failed to score in half of their league trips this term. Livi are currently winless in seven trips, while they’ve picked up 77% of their points at home this term. They have scored 73% of their goals this season at home, while the Saints have won their last six meetings with the visitors. Given the way they’re playing right now, we see great value in backing the Saints to take the points on Wednesday.
