toulouse vs strasbourg Tip Reason:

Toulouse recently announced that highly-rated centre-back Jean-Clair Tobido would sign for Barcelona in the summer but the 19-year-old hasn’t played much for the Violets this season following contact disputes. He hasn’t really been missed though as Toulouse have lost just one of their last five games, despite sitting 14th in the table. Alain Casanova’s side have been great recently and they just required one solid performance to bolster the side’s confidence. Toulouse had been misfiring pretty heavily before they travelled to Paris at the start of December. They had gone five games without a win and while they didn’t beat PSG (0-1), they became the first team in France to hold the champions to just a single goal this season. This has greatly motivated the side and they have since gone on to win three of their last five games, with a 2-1 defeat to Caen, which included a 99th minute winning penalty, being the only stick in the mud. They got great victories over Lille (2-1) and Reims (1-0) and followed this up with an incredible 4-1 thrashing of Nice to start off 2019 in positive fashion. They look a completely different side to the one that got thumped 4-0 by Nantes and 3-0 by Montpellier and although they haven’t been the best defensively with just one clean sheet in their last fourteen games, their strikers have turned it up a notch with ten in their last five games, Max Gradel scored half of those. This should be an exciting match though as Strasbourg have also been very positive recently with just one loss in their last seven games. Thierry Laurey’s men have looked fantastic with 13 goals in these seven matches and although they have kept just one clean sheet in this time, there have been some massive performances sprinkled about. Their 1-1 draw with PSG stands out but also their victories over Rennes (4-1), Nice (2-0) and Lyon (2-1). The latter was most impressive as they stunned 3rd placed Lyon with fantastic pressing from the front. With both teams doing so well up front, we’re definitely backing goals for this one as both teams have scored in four of the last five clashes. This has also happened in six of Strasbourg’s last seven games and in four of Toulouse’s last five. Toulouse haven’t won any of the last five clashes with Strasbourg and with them winning just one of their last eight home games, we’re going to back Strasbourg to win this game, as they have a much better away record of just one loss in their last seven. We’re predicting a 2-1 victory for Strasbourg.
