wolverhampton vs west-ham Tip Reason:

This weekend wasn’t too kind to Wolves or West Ham, with both sides suffering setbacks in the FA Cup. Wolves had to fight back to draw 2-2 at Shrewsbury, while West Ham were thumped 4-2 at AFC Wimbledon. It was such a promising few days for the Hammers before that, as they secured Marko Arnautovic’s future, and continued to pursue Celta Vigo’s highly rated Maxi Gomez. The club are still pushing for a club record deal, but that’s not going to fix their defensive issues ahead of this trip to Molineux. Wolves have been an entertaining side through January, including their 2-2 draw at the weekend. Their last league match was a 4-3 victory over Leicester, while they dumped Liverpool out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win earlier in 2019. They’ve made a fantastic start to life back in the top flight, sitting just a point outside the top seven ahead of this game. Will they boost their European push with three points against the Hammers? The visitors were awe-struck by Wimbledon’s display in the cup. The side has been hit with uncertainty in January, thanks to Arnautovic’s links to China. However, he announced his intention to stay at the London Stadium and bring home the FA Cup. That dream lasted a day, before a defeat to the bottom side in League One left Manuel Pellegrini furious with his team. Will he inspire a response from them in this midweek league trip? It’s hard to see West Ham pulling off a result, given their mixed away record this term. They’ve won four of 11 trips, a number which looks bad when you consider that they’ve met only three top-half sides. They’re yet to win away to any side in the top 10, while six of the nine teams above the Hammers have beaten them already this season. That includes Wolves, who won at the London Stadium despite picking up most of their points and scoring the majority of their goals at home. Wolves’ last two home games have seen them score six times in wins over Leicester and Liverpool. Meanwhile, West Ham have shipped eight goals in three away defeats to Wimbledon, Bournemouth and Burnley in the last month. The visitors have conceded twice in four of their last six games, while Wolves have scored two or more goals in all but one of their home victories this season. We see West Ham’s defensive issues costing them on Tuesday, so over 1.5 Wolves goals is our tip here, along with a 2-1 home win.
