aberdeen vs rangers Tip Reason:

What a big midweek match we have for you in the Premiership on Wednesday, as third placed Aberdeen look to capitalise on their home advantage to leapfrog their guests Rangers and move up behind the league leaders Celtic. Just two points separate the pair heading into the match and both teams arrive in excellent form, which suggests we will have an exciting, action packed ninety minutes on our hands. Aberdeen narrowly beat Hibs 2-1 on Saturday, but could, and probably should, have won by more. The hosts took the lead in the ninth minute through Shaw, but Aberdeen were only behind for three minutes before Considine equalised. A twenty-second minute strike from the impressive Mackay-Steven ensured Aberdeen would lead at the break, but the very same player spurned a golden opportunity to increase the visitors lead five minutes into the second half when he missed a penalty. However, Aberdeen held firm to collect an important three points from a tricky away fixture to keep the pressure on Steven Gerrard’s Rangers. Rangers cruised to a 4-0 win at home to bottom of the table St. Mirren on Saturday, but were aided by some terrible defending from their guests, who gave away four penalties. Tavernier converted the first spot kick in the third minute, but missed his second in the twenty-sixth minute. However, a third penalty was awarded ten minutes into the second half and the defender made no mistake this time around. A fourth penalty was awarded with ten minutes left on the clock, but this time veteran forward Defoe was handed the opportunity to score, which he did, to make it 3-0. A minute later and Kent slammed home a fourth and final goal for the hosts to end a miserable afternoon for St. Mirren and their fans. We’re expecting a much more competitive game when Rangers make the trip to Aberdeen on Wednesday night, and have backed both teams to score and for the game to feature at least three goals. Now, the last five meeting between the pair have featured under 2.5 goals, but Rangers haven’t always been at their best during that period and this season have a lot more goals in them. Both teams have scored in three of the last six meetings between the pair, and the same can be said about four of Aberdeen’s last six matches. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in four of Aberdeen’s and four of Rangers’ last six matches in all competitions. Both teams know how much is at stake in Wednesday’s match and a draw only really does Celtic any favours, so expect both teams to play an open, expansive game in search of the three points. Cosgrove top scores for the hosts with eleven league goals this season, but only lasted nineteen minutes of Aberdeen’s last match before being taken off injured. Rangers will have been pleased to keep hold of their thirteen goal top scorer Morelos during the transfer window, but also have the experience and goals of Defoe to call upon if needs be. We’re confident that both teams will score and that over 2.5 goals will go in during Wednesday’s match, and have backed the game to end in a 2-2 draw. Both teams arrive in good form and full of confidence, but if Cosgrove fails to recover from his injury in time, he will prove a big miss for the hosts. Rangers are a tough team to beat this season, but anything but three points on Wednesday and they could be handing the league title to their arch rivals Celtic. We believe both teams will cancel each other out on Wednesday, despite the fact that a draw suits Celtic more than either of these two, but we should be in for an exciting and entertaining ninety minutes.
