emmen Team News:

Nicklas Pedersen, Henk Bos, Emil Bijlsma, and Rob Deiman are all set to miss Sunday's game through injury.

vitesse Team News:

Oussama Darfalou, Thulani Serero, Hilary Gong, Tim Matavz, Charly Musonda, and Arnold Kruiswijk are all injury doubts for the visitors this weekend.

emmen vs vitesse Tip Reason:

Emmen lost last weekend away at Excelsior, while victory for Vitesse against Willem II saw the gap between Sunday’s opponents stretch to nine points. Theoretically, Emmen could move into the top half of the table with a win this weekend as ninth placed Groningen sit three points above them, but their -21 goal difference means that wont happen. Vitesse will be aiming to catch fourth placed AZ and with the gap at seven points they need to win to keep the pressure on. Emmen were a little unlucky to lose last weekend away at Excelsior, after they took the lead through de Leeuw in the fifty-ninth minute and ended the game with 54% of the overall possession. However, two quick goals from Edwards and then substitute Eckert earned Excelsior all three points. Vitesse took the lead against Willem II in the fifth minute through Linssen and never really looked back from that point on. Ødegaard made it 2-0 just before the hour mark and even when Willem II pulled a goal back the hosts responded with another of their own from Clark to make it 3-1. Willem II did pull another goal back in the last ten minutes, but Vitesse held on to secure a deserved victory. There isn’t much history to go on between these two teams with the pair meeting just once before, but their recent performances and results points towards one thing this weekend, goals. Each of Emmen’s last five games have produced over 2.5 goals, while five of Vitesse’s last six have also seen over 2.5 goals scored. The hosts have no clean sheets in their last ten matches, but their visitor’s record is even worse as they haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last fourteen attempts. In December when the pair met for their reverse Eredivisie fixture the game ended all square and given that neither team is in the best of form heading into this weekends latest encounter we’re backing this game to also end in a draw. Jansen top scores for the hosts with five Eredivisie goals so far, while Vitesse’s leading man Linssen is just one goal away from reaching double figures in the league this season. We’re confident that over 2.5 goals will be scored in Sunday’s match, and have backed the game to end in a 2-2 draw. Neither side has form in their favour and with one previous meeting history will have little to no effect on the outcome, instead our predictions are based on the recent performances of the two sides and how they have been scoring and letting in goals on a regular basis these last few months.
