everton vs manchester-city Tip Reason:

Everton’s miserable run of form continued on Saturday as they were put to the sword by an impressive Wolves side at Goodison Park. They left their home reeling from a 3-1 defeat against the newly promoted side, leaving them 9th in the Premier League and putting Marco Silva under yet more pressure. The arrival of Silva in the summer, along with some big spending in the transfer market, sparked a widespread sense of optimism around Goodison Park. However, the Portuguese manager has yet to prove his worth in terms of results, and their torrid form over the last couple of months isn’t helping his cause. The Toffees have now won just 3 of their 12 Premier League matches since the beginning of December, drawing twice and losing the remaining 7 outings. 2 of these victories have come against relegation threatened teams, and the other was against a Bournemouth side who were struggling for form as well. This certainly doesn’t bode well for a hosting of the reigning Premier League champions. Manchester City managed to keep their race for the top flight title moving forward on Sunday as they comfortably beat Arsenal 3-1 at the Etihad, and with Sergio Aguero bagging a hat trick in that game, he will be hoping to fend off competition from Gabriel Jesus up front. The Citizens have now won 5 of their last 6 Premier League outings, but a number of results since the start of December have been worrying. They have lost to Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Leicester, and Newcastle in the last couple of months, although slip ups from Liverpool means they are still within touching distance of the top spot. One thing we can expect on Wednesday is goals. Everton’s defence has proven less than impressive throughout the season, conceding 36 times in 25 games so far and now they’re coming up against the highest scoring side in the league. The result has been a lot of high scoring affairs, and The Toffee’s outings have averaged 2.88 goals per game this season. Everton’s last home meeting with a Premier League Big Six side ended in a 6-2 thrashing at the hands of Spurs, and Manchester City have seen 3 or more goals in 14 of their last 15 Premier League matches. This makes a Manchester City Win and Over 2.5 Goals look a very solid bet for Wednesday, along with a 3-1 correct score prediction.
