everton Team News:

Lucas Digne is suspended after being sent off against Huddersfield. Yerry Mina and Leighton Baines are both major injury doubts, while Idrissa Gueye may have completed a transfer away from Goodison Park before the weekend. Phil Jagielka is still out with a knock.

wolverhampton Team News:

Wolves have a clean bill of health ahead of this weekend’s game.

everton vs wolverhampton Tip Reason:

8th placed Everton sit just one place below Wolves in the Premier League table ahead of the teams’ meeting at Goodison Park on Saturday. A win for the Toffees however, would catapult them ahead of their visitors and into 7th spot. Everton have been frustratingly inconsistent in recent weeks, winning 3 and losing 3 of their last 6 fixtures in all competitions. In truth, the Blues’ performances since December last year have generally been underwhelming. The Toffees picked up maximum points just 3 times in their last 11 Premier League outings since December 1st, and bar their hugely impressive 5-1 win at Burnley on Boxing Day, things have been decidedly flat for Everton. Everton’s hard-fought 1-0 win at Huddersfield in mid-week was only their second away victory in 9, though things have at least, been a little rosier at Goodson Park for the Blues. On their own patch, Everton have been beaten just twice in 9 fixtures in league and cup, and the Toffees have been posting some decent goal scoring figures along the way. Everton scored at least twice in 6 of those 9 games, and they failed to score only once in their 12 Premier League home matches in total this season. Defensively, there are still major problems for Marco Silva however. The clean sheet Everton secured at Huddersfield on Tuesday was only their second in 13 matches and on Saturday they face a Wolves attack that has only failed to register 3 times in 13. Wolves recorded their biggest Premier League win since their promotion from the Championship against West Ham on Tuesday. Wanderers scored a trio of goals after the hour mark on their way to racking up a 3-0 final scoreline against the hapless Hammers. Helping Wolves along their way to a rare meaty winning margin against West Ham, was the blank they secured at the other end. It was only Wanderers’ second clean sheet in 9, and it’s worth noting that both of those were secured in familiar surroundings at Molineux. Away from home, Wolves have conceded in 9 of their 11 league matches since their promotion – a pattern we see continuing this weekend. With that considered, we think backing both teams to score at Goodison Park on Saturday represents great value. In terms of the outright result, we’re backing Wolves to take a point this weekend. Having lost just once in 5, Wanderers’ recent spike in form should give them the impetus to get another positive result against an Everton team that still look a little fragile, having lost 2 of their last 3. With that in mind, we’re tipping the sides to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
