hannover Team News:

Hannover will be without numerous players on Friday evening. Genki Haraguchi is at the Asian Cup with Japan, while Ihlas Bebou, Niclas Fullkrug and Timo Hubers are all sidelined. There are also doubts over the fitness of Edgar Prib and Martins Felipe.

rb-leipzig Team News:

Both Bruma and Kevin Kampl could miss out for the visitors, while Amadou Haidara is also expected be out.

hannover vs rb-leipzig Tip Reason:

Two games into the second part of the Bundesliga campaign and it’s fair to say that Hannover have made a rather displeasing return to action. Die Roten lost by a goal to nil against Bremen first game back, while they were demolished by league leaders Dortmund last time out. Boss Thomas Doll will be hoping that this return to home soil sparks improvement, though if Leipzig play like they did last weekend even an improved Hannover showing may not be enough. It’s hard to put a positive spin on Hannover’s efforts of late. Friday’s hosts have found it tough to get going in the final, while, they’ve not offered much resistance at the back either, which is why they’ve won none of their last eight league matches. During that time, they’ve kept zero clean sheets, have conceded a total of 19 goals and have scored just four. Such stats do not bode well ahead of a Leipzig side that are no strangers to dishing out a beating. Even on their own patch, Hannover have found it tough to make things happen. They’ve now failed to score in each of their last four at HDI Arena, while they’ve clocked expected-goals for figures of 0.3, 0.78, 0.36 and 0.91 during that time. Such numbers make it easy to see why Hannover are struggling in the final third, which is certainly not something Leipzig did when sticking four goals past Dusseldorf, who recently won 0-1 at this venue, on Sunday evening. It would be wrong to say that Leipzig have been excellent on their travels this season, because that’s not the case, though their overall efforts away from home have been more impressive than Hannover’s at home, especially from an attacking point of view, while their performance away against Dusseldorf last time out showed that Ralf Rangnick’s men can flex their muscles against the lesser teams. In terms of both creativity and goals, Leipzig are a better side than Hannover, while they also offer far more in terms of defensive resistance. Keeping this in mind, the visitors are the likely winners, though backing them at the prices available represents little value. One angle of attack that does catch the eye is ‘Both Teams to Score – NO’. Hannover’s struggles in the final third are there for all to see; they find it tough to carve out scoring opportunities, while getting the ball in the net is not something that they’ve done all that frequently, even on home soil. What’s more, although Leipzig did score four last time out, their three previous away expected-goals for figures read: 0.36, 0.56 and 0.64, so they too are partial to a bit of a no-show going forward. A bet of this nature can of course go down in seconds, but it’s hard to feel that a bet on at least one side to falter offensively doesn’t represent marginal value.
