manchester-city vs west-ham Tip Reason:

Manchester City retained a major trophy for the first time in their history on Sunday as they beat out Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup Final, but now their attention turns back to the gruelling battle for the Premier League trophy. The Citizens fell behind in that race as Liverpool picked up a point against Manchester United, but Pep Guardiola will notice that the tide is clearly turning in his favour at the moment. While Liverpool have faltered in recent weeks, Manchester City have won 7 of their last 8 Premier League matches and scored a massive 23 goals in the process. Their last league outing was a couple of weeks ago and ended with a 6-0 demolition of Chelsea, so confidence is high at the Etihad right now. West Ham aren’t in bad shape themselves after a 3-1 win over Fulham kept them in the race for potential Europa League football. They now sit 9th in the table, just 4 adrift of Watford in 7th place and having only lost 4 of their last 14 Premier League matches. However, coming up against Manchester City is completely different to a normal top flight outing. The hosts have won all but 1 of their Premier League home games this season and have scored a league high 49 goals in front of their home fans. This averages out at 3.5 goals per game for them, and 14 of them have come in the last 4 outings. That means that we can expect a high scoring game here. In fact, 8 of Manchester City’s last 10 home league games have seen at least 4 goals scored in total, and they’re facing a West Ham side who have shipped 8 goals in their last 4 away league games. 3 of these 4 away games were against teams in the bottom half of the table too, so Manchester City will be confident of bagging a few. Interestingly, this has been a high scoring fixture of late too. 6 of the last 7 competitive meetings between these sides has seen at least 4 goals scored, and given the hosts’ form we think backing a Manchester City Win and Over 3.5 Goals is a great choice here along with a 4-1 correct score prediction.
