celtic vs rangers Tip Reason:

League leaders Celtic will host their bitter city rivals Rangers on Sunday at Celtic Park as the Hoops try and wrap up the league with a win. Can the Gers cause an upset? This is perhaps the most crucial league game for Celtic so far this season. All Glasgow derbies against Rangers are huge games, but this one is the most important one so far due to the fact that the Hoops could open the gap between the sides to 13 points. Celtic have been in tremendous form all year and for much of the 2018/2019 season too. The drama behind the scenes at the club after Brendan Rodgers left to go down south hasn’t really affected the team’s morale or performances. Excluding their matches in the Europa League against Valencia, Celtic haven’t lost a single game in 2019. Moreover, the Bhoys have won 12 of their last 13 domestic fixtures, dropping points just once after a goalless game against Aberdeen a couple of weeks prior to the international break. This tremendous run of games also came after their last defeat, against Rangers, and it’s safe to say that Celtic bounced back tremendously from that loss. In the other half of the city, Rangers have had a tougher few weeks than their rivals. The Gers managed to build a case for a title race after defeating the Hoops in December, despite losing to Kilmarnock in their first competitive game of the year. Steven Gerrard’s side went on to win 7 of their next 9 matches, achieving some impressive results like thrashing St Mirren 4-0, Kilmarnock 5-0, Hamilton 5-0 and Dundee 4-0. But March brought negativity back to the club after experiencing spells of it throughout the season. They drew 1-1 with Aberdeen in the quarter-final of the Scottish FA Cup, forcing a replay that they eventually lost 2-0 at Ibrox. A couple of draws against Hibs and Kilmarnock would extend the point gap between themselves and the top to 10 points, practically ending the Gers’ chances of any silverware this season, calling into question Gerrard’s position at the club. Rangers are in desperate need of a win here in order for them to keep their title hopes alive, which you can read more about here. The Gers are facing their biggest challenge of the season in Celtic’s own backyard, making the prospect of winning even harder- but the reward would be sweeter. The host’s domestic home record has been- quite literally- perfect all season, as they have only dropped points once in their most recent home fixture against Aberdeen. The Celtic squad is still vastly superior to Rangers’, and Lennon’s side will also boast the home advantage for this clash- which is a deciding factor in games like these. We’re going to back Celtic to win here and both teams to score, as Rangers will more than likely take a few risks going forward, with a final score of 3-1 for the Hoops.
