leganes vs levante Tip Reason:

Levante head to Madrid this Monday to take on Leganes in a showdown of two small clubs that are enjoying pretty good seasons in La Liga. Neither side looks to be in serious relegation trouble although both sides are 10 points shy of the magic 40 point figure. A win for either here would be a step firmly in the right direction. Leganes were held by Valencia at Butarque last weekend although it would have felt like a point gained thanks to Martin Braithwaite’s late leveller. The Norwegian has impressed since making the move from Middlesbrough but he will be without strike-partner Youssef En-Nesyri here due to the Moroccan being suspended. Guido Carrillo should return as a result and he was a bit unfortunate to lose his starting role in the first place. As for Levante, they are a very inconsistent side. They played pretty well in a 2-1 defeat at home to Real Madrid last weekend and were a little unfortunate to lose the game. Their four games prior to that included a 5-0 defeat at Sevilla and a 4-1 win at Celta Vigo so they are a strange team in many respects. Overall though their away record has been pretty poor over the past few months. Prior to the win in Vigo, they’d suffered 5 straight defeats on their travels. They’ve also gone 11 games without an away clean sheet in all competitions now and Leganes’ direct style of play isn’t really something that they are likely to be able to use their counter-attacking approach against particularly effectively. Leganes are in pretty good form overall. They’ve only lost 5 of their last 19 matches in all competitions, a very decent return for a side considered among the relegation favourites. They’ve won 4 of their last 9 and Butarque has been something of a fortress for them. They’ve only lost once at home all season in La Liga and are unbeaten in 12 home fixtures in all competitions heading into this match. That sequence has included wins over Barcelona and Real Madrid and they’ve no reason not to fancy this, particularly with Ruben Rochina banned for the visitors. Backing Leganes to Win could be the smart bet. Going for Martin Braithwaite to score anytime also appeals. He looks more comfortable in La Liga with Leganes than he ever did in the Championship and has netted in 4 of his last 7 appearances for the South Madrid club.
