leverkusen vs werder-bremen Tip Reason:

Leverkusen blew hot and cold last year, but new boss Peter Bosz, who was brought in to replace former coach Heiko Herrlich over the winter break, has well and truly turned the dial up to the max. His side have won all but one of their last seven Bundesliga matches, which includes a 3-1 win over Bayern Munich, losing only to then league leaders Borussia Dortmund. Leverkusen look an absolute force to be reckoned with and their shock exit from the Europa League a few weeks back does make European qualification their only target as the season draws to an end. Werder Bremen came from a goal down to secure a remarkable 4-2 win at home to Schalke last weekend. Florian Kohfeldt’s men remain unbeaten in 2019 across all competitions (W3 D6 – eight league and one DFB Pokal) and they’re also one of only three teams in Europe’s top five leagues – along with Juventus and PSG – to have scored in every league game so far this season. A win on Sunday could take Werder back within reach of the top six, meaning that both European football in 19/20 and cup silverware this season are possibilities, though improbabilities. After a look at the stats, our attention is on a smaller bet on ‘over 3.5 goals’ here. Bremen’s and Leverkusen’s attacking records and lapses in defensive form are the perfect combination for the goals markets. Leverkusen’s league matches in 2019 have seen a massive 28 goals scored, an average of 3.5 goals per game – the fifth highest number in the league. Bremen aren’t too far off that either, with 23 goals scored in their eight games so far – an average of just under three per game. And with over 3.5 goals scored in 50% of Leverkusen’s home matches this season too, there has to be some value in that market. Who wins this outing, though? Well, goals have been in full flow for Bayer Leverkusen at home under Bosz – they’ve scored two or more in five of their last seven outings at the BayArena – and that should play well against a Bremen side that have kept a clean sheet in just 17% of their away days. However, Bremen scored four last weekend against Schalke, and Leverkusen have shown their defence isn’t impenetrable, even against weaker offenses like Hannover. It would be wrong to write them off for one or two as well. Going off all of this, we like the value in another 3-2 win for Leverkusen.
