plymouth vs shrewsbury Tip Reason:

A loss away at the Stadium of Light is the only blot on Plymouth’s recent record, so it’s fair to say that Derek Adams’ men have been ticking along nicely. The Pilgrims have lost just one of their last six league matches, while they’ll be feeling confident ahead of this match after holding league leaders Luton to a draw last time out. Not many teams keep a clean sheet against the imperious Hatters, so Plymouth have every reason to be feeling upbeat. Another reason why Adams’ men will be feeling good is the fact that they’re now unbeaten in six at home, three of which they’ve won. Such a record is pleasing, especially since they’ve faced the likes of Luton and Portsmouth at Home Park in recent weeks. From a performance point of view, Plymouth have looked reasonably strong in front of their own fans of late, as they’ve been bettered in terms of expected goals in just two of their last nine. Offensively, they’ve impressed during that time, scoring at least twice in six of those nine, while they’ve only conceded more than once twice. Moreover, the Pilgrims are averaging a more than respectable 1.69 expected goals for, which tells us that they’re useful at creating scoring opportunities. However, they have shipped an average of 1.54, so they’re not exactly prone to preventing their opponents from creating. As for the visitors, well, despite winning two of their last four and losing just one of their last six, Shrewsbury are struggling. Sam Rickett’s men are just a point above safety and are in desperate need of points. Last time out, Shrewsbury lost away against Rochdale. They offered a reasonable amount going forward, though they gave far too much away, shipping 2.12 expected goals. Conceding goals is becoming a bit of a habit for the Shrews on the road, who’ve shipped at least once in each of their last four away matches, while they’ve kept just three clean sheets away from home all season. Fortunately, it’s rare that Shrewsbury fail to compete offensively, as they’ve scored in each of their last four and in nine of their last ten on their travels. In the betting, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’ stands out at the prices. Plymouth are no strangers to scoring plenty on their own patch, though they’ve also given plenty away. Much of the same can be said for Shrewsbury, who’ve both scored and conceded in nine of their last ten away matches, seven of which have seen at least three goals go in.
