bolton Team News:

Jack Hobbs and Luke Murphy should all be fit to feature for Bolton after recovering from minor injuries. Yannick Wildchut is still recovering from an ankle injury however, and Jason Lowe won't play again this season.

aston-villa Team News:

Tommy Elphick, James Chester, Lovre Kalinic, Kortney Hause, Jonathan Kodija and Jack Grealish are all nursing injuries ahead of Friday's game, but most of them, if not all, will hope to be ready for selection.

bolton vs aston-villa Tip Reason:

Bolton Wanderers’ fight against relegation this season has felt decidedly one-sided for most of the 2018/19 Championship season, though one more decisive blow this week could finally send the Trotters hurtling towards the canvas and out of England’s second tier. Wanderers are 10 points from safety with 4 games and 12 points to play for, and their chances of grabbing the win they need to prolong the inevitable against Aston Villa on Friday, feel as slim as their chances of survival are. With 8 defeats in their last 10 Championship fixtures, Bolton look like exiting the division with a whimper, and wherever you look, there are depressing numbers for Wanderers. Bolton have lost more games in the league than any other team in the Championship this term, they have scored the fewest goals and they hold the joint worst defensive record to boot. In stark contrast, Aston Villa have played themselves into title winning form in recent weeks, though their late 8-game winning surge has arrived a little too late to make a push for an automatic promotion place. Villa’s results have pushed them firmly into playoff contention however, though Dean Smith will be aware of the dangers of resting on any laurels with just 4 games to negotiate. A major feature of the game’s in Villa’s 9-game winning streak has been the high levels of excitement in each contest. An average of 3.1 goals were scored across the fixtures, and both teams scored in 5 of the 9 games, including 100% of Villa’s most recent quartet of outings – a trend we expect to see repeated on Friday. Goals in either half from Jack Grealish and James Chester earned Villa the points when they met Bolton earlier in the season, and expect Villa to ease their way past Wanderers with similar comfort this time around. Despite winning on each occasion, Villa conceded in 5 of their last 6 games however, and they showed enough frailty at the back to suggest that they could leave the door open for Bolton to grab a consolation goal on Friday. Wanderers’ form has been turgid, though they did manage to register in 5 of their last 9 home games. With that considered, we think the away win and both teams to score combination looks great value for Friday’s contest. In our correct score prediction, we’re backing Aston Villa to ease to a 3-1 win.
