hertha vs dusseldorf Tip Reason:

Hertha have been really up and down in 18/19. Pal Dardai’s side haven’t strung two wins together on the bounce since September and last weekend saw them hit what could be called “rock bottom” for the season. A 5-0 defeat away to Leipzig saw them drop down to 10th in the Bundesliga and all but extinguished their European aspirations. A number of injuries means that Hertha are unlikely to make any changes ahead of what could be a particularly tricky fixture – the Berliners haven’t won any of their last six Bundesliga games against Dusseldorf (D2 L4). Contrastingly, Dusseldorf have completely exceeded expectations. Not only have Friedhelm Funkel’s side beaten title chasers Borussia Dortmund and drawn away to Bayern Munich, but they’ve been doing exactly what they need to do as a promoted side: getting results in favourable fixtures like they’re supposed to. As such, recent defeats to teams like Leipzig, Leverkusen, Frankfurt and Wolfsburg can be forgiven, because they’ve beaten struggling sides like Nurnberg, Schalke, and Gladbach in between, all but guaranteeing their survival. Whether they can cause another “upset” here is the question. Hertha might have won just three games so far in 2019, but they’ve only lost three games at home all season, and those were against Dortmund, Leipzig and Wolfsburg. Going off that, we’re thinking that a bet on ‘over 2.5 goals’ is the way to go here. Bar their blanks away to Leipzig and Bayern – two games that can be taken with a pinch of salt – Hertha are in reasonable scoring form, having found the back of the net in each of the other five league outings around those. Dusseldorf themselves have also been firing well enough, with nine goals in their last four in the Bundesliga. Dusseldorf’s league matches in 2019 have also seen a massive 35 goals scored, an average of 3.5 goals per game – the seventh highest number in the league – and with over 2.5 goals scored in 63% of Hertha’s and 70% of Dusseldorf’s matches this season too, there has to be some value in that market. Going off respective home and away forms, Hertha’s overall record at the Olympiastadion does make us feel it will be hard for the visitors to get all three points, however, with Dusseldorf in good form and boasting a solid track record against them, we fancy them to get something from this game too. Our prediction: a 2-2 draw.
