hull-city vs wigan Tip Reason:

There was late drama at Ashton Gate at the weekend, as Wigan snatched a rare away point against Bristol City. They scored in added time to get a 2-2 draw on Saturday, but they’re back on the road and in need of a win in midweek. Wigan head to Hull City, a side who could be forgiven for dreaming about the top six as we edge towards the close of the season. Hull City have moved within five points of the playoffs at this late stage, following their 3-1 win over Reading at the weekend. They are aiming for a third straight win in this clash, which would leave them in the mix for sixth with five games to go. It’s a tall order, but it’s not yet out of reach for the in-form Tigers. With Wigan coming up, they’ll expect to boost their ambitions on Wednesday night. Wigan may have claimed a point on Saturday, but their away form leaves a lot to be desired. Results at the weekend put them further to shame; the Latics are the only side in the league with fewer than 10 away points to their name. This season Wigan have secured 83% of their points in home matches, so they are likely to find things tough at the KCOM. The Latics have an unwanted run going at the back, as they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in 18 away matches. They’re matching bottom side Ipswich in terms of their displays on the road, while the Tractor Boys have picked up more points than Wigan away. They come into this one having let in at least two goals in their last four away matches, while they’ve shipped 14 goals in their last six games on their travels. Hull seem perfectly placed to add to that terrible run. Hull City have hit 34 goals at home this season, thanks to a fantastic run in front of goal. Their 3-1 win on Saturday has continued a hot streak at the KCOM, as they’ve now scored at least twice in their last 10 home matches. They’ve scored 27 in that time, now they face a Wigan side who have let in 40 goals in 20 trips. We are going with more goals for Hull, who have made the most of home advantage. They’ve scored twice in all but one of their meetings with sides below them at this ground, so over 1.5 Hull goals is our bet.
