liverpool vs chelsea Tip Reason:

Liverpool managed to rack up a solid victory at home to Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final in midweek, but now their attentions turn towards the closely fought title race that could take the Premier League trophy to Anfield for the first time. With Manchester City in action earlier on Sunday, the chances are that Liverpool will need a victory against Chelsea to return to the top spot this weekend, and even then they have played a game more than their title rivals. The ball isn’t in their court right now, but hope is far from lost. That win over Porto made it 15 games unbeaten in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s team, but they haven’t looked at their best in the Premier League recently. Back in February and March they endured a run of four stalemates in six matches, and while they have returned to winning ways since then, it’s been far from convincing at times. They were lucky to beat Southampton last time out and have relied on late goals to beat both Fulham and Spurs. Chelsea should be able to provide them with a tough test at Anfield. They have won their last four competitive games and are currently embroiled in a tightly contested battle for a top four spot. However, there are some serious questions surrounding Chelsea’s ability to perform away from Stamford Bridge in the league. They did manage to clinch three points in their last away game against Cardiff, but even that relied on two late goals and some rather questionable officiating. The Blues have actually lost four of their last six league away days too, failing to score in all four of these defeats. They haven’t been close games either – 2-0 losses to Arsenal and Everton bookend the demolition jobs from Bournemouth and Manchester City, with their 6-0 thrashing at the Etihad being one of the lowest moments in recent memory for Chelsea fans. On Sunday they come up against a Liverpool side who remain unbeaten at Anfield in the Premier League this season, with all but two of their games ending in victory. They have scored 46 goals in their 16 games and conceded just 10 at the other end, so Chelsea are really up against it here, despite their recent record at Anfield. We’re backing a Liverpool Win on Sunday, and also going for a 2-0 correct score prediction. Sadio Mane is one to watch for in the anytime goalscorer market too, with the Senegalese attacker notching an impressive eight goals in his last seven league games at Anfield, failing to score in just one of them.
