lyon vs dijon Tip Reason:

Bruno Genesio’s place as manager was pretty much confirmed last week as club president Jean-Michel Aulas signalled that his contract would be extended, despite the news of José Mourinho’s interest. Many fans have called for a change of manager but Aulas has stood firm in his support of Genesio. He might change his mind though as Lyon crashed out of the Coupe de France in midweek to 9th placed Rennes. Lyon now only have the league to concentrate on after underperforming in both domestic competitions. However, they aren’t exactly meeting expectations as they sit 3rd, four points behind Lille who finished 17th last year. This latest result just extended Lyon’s rather soggy run of results as they have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight matches. Half of these have been wins which isn’t exactly the form of a 2nd placed side and while they have scored 17 goals in their last seven games, the 14 conceded really outlines which department this team is struggling in. With some of their recent wins being largely unimpressive, the 1-0 win over Rennes, 2-1 victory over Guingamp and 1-0 win in Amiens key examples, they really have to prove to many that they are a team worthy of their reputation. A convincing win here would do the trick. Dijon dropped down to the foot of the table after their defeat to Nice last week. They had a great chance to win three points as Nice have been notoriously poor on the road this season but ultimately squandered it as they only mustered up one shot on target despite dominating possession. It was just another brick in the wall that has been Dijon’s horrible campaign so far. Antoine Kombouaré hasn’t been able to mend the wounds of this team in the three months he has been at the club and as a result it looks as if they’ll be playing Ligue 2 football next season. They have lost eight and drawn one of their last nine games, conceding 16 goals and scoring just twice in this time period. They are second bottom for both the goals scored and goals conceded tables and don’t have a single player on more than three league goals this season. It seems that they are sinking without a trace and even though they are just two points behind Caen in the play-off place, they look miles behind the other teams in the relegation battle. This fixture has always had a knack of being extremely high scoring as the last seven have all seen over 2.5 goals. Six have seen both teams score but with Dijon scoring just twice in their last nine games, we don’t see that happening. Dijon haven’t won away from home in the league since September and while Lyon will still be hurting from the Rennes defeat, they still have the firepower to put a few past Dijon here, just as they did earlier in the season (3-0). As a result of this fixture’s history and Lyon’s hot streak for goals we’re backing a 3-0 win. The over 2.5 goals and both teams not to score market also looks a solid one for this match given Dijon’s form.
