nimes vs bordeaux Tip Reason:

Paolo Sousa looked to have reinvigorated this wayward Bordeaux side two weeks ago when les Girondins managed to beat Marseille 2-0 at home in an electric performance. Incredible performances came from the likes of Benoît Costil and Nicolas de Préville as they launched themselves back into contention for a top ten finish. Bordeaux had won none of the previous six matches so fans were extremely pleased to see a deserved win from their team. They had a swift return to form last week though as they were thrashed 3-0 by Saint-Étienne. Sousa fielded an extremely young team with just two players over the age of 25 and a back-three averaging the age of 20. It was quite the shake-up compared to their win over Marseille but it didn’t pay off. Bordeaux looked like their usual terrible selves and fully deserved the result they got as they had just one shot on target. This result has killed off any positivity that was gained after the Marseille win and made it the 7th defeat of their last 13 games, just two of which have been wins and three clean sheets. Nîmes should look at this weak Bordeaux side with great anticipation, especially given their impressive home form. Nîmes are unbeaten in their last six games at the Stade des Costières, winning four and drawing twice. Just two of them had clean sheets for Nîmes but their efficient attack was enough to win them the points on each occasion. The Crocodiles scored 13 goals in that period and will be extremely happy to be back home after they lost 2-1 in Marseille last week. Nîmes had their chances but just couldn’t create anything of quality as les Olympiens took charge of the game. Nîmes have now only won one of their last nine on the road so the sight of the Costières will be welcomed. Nîmes have only kept two clean sheets in their last 13 games at any stadium but with them very consistently hitting the back of the net, drawing a blank in just one of their last ten, they should be confident ahead of this game. Even though Sousa’s attempt to ‘win with kids’ last week against Saint-Étienne didn’t work, it still was admirable. However, Nîmes will hope they didn’t learn their lesson as they’re targeting three points that could take them up to 9th. The last clash between these teams ended 3-3 in September but with Nîmes so strong at home, we’re backing them to win here. Nîmes have scored at least two goals in five of their last six home games and with both teams scoring in five of their last six matches at any stadium, we’re backing a 2-1 win for the hosts.
