rb-leipzig vs wolfsburg Tip Reason:

Last weekend’s 3-1 win at home to Hannover has put Wolfsburg one point within the Europa League qualifying spots going into the final six games of the season – a win over RB Leipzig on Saturday would strengthen their unlikely efforts for a top-four finish too. Coach Bruno Labbadia, who has now confirmed he will be departing the club in May, would no doubt like to leave having achieved that much, but their recent 6-0 and 2-0 defeats away to Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have shown their recent struggles to break down the top sides. This doesn’t bode well against a Leipzig outfit that is not only looking to home in on a return to the UEFA Champions League, but also seems to have refound their trademark attacking flair over the last few weeks. Ralf Rangnick’s men ended their run of four games without scoring multiple goals with a massive 5-0 win at home to Hertha Berlin and followed that up with a 4-2 win in Leverkusen last Saturday, meaning they’re unbeaten in twelve across all competitions (W9 D3) going into the weekend. Such a run has put them seven points inside the top four, and a win here would all but secure that target. And backing the hosts to do just that looks a good option here. Leipzig’s attacking record combined with Wolfsburg’s lack of defensive form is the perfect mix for that bet. Only six sides have conceded more goals than the Wolves (20) in the eleven Bundesliga matches so far in 2019, an average of around two goals conceded per game, so the Red Bulls should be able to maintain their two-goal per game scoring average against them. Leipzig themselves, meanwhile, have conceded a league-low five goals over the same number. It will be very tough for a hit or miss Wolfsburg offence to do too much damage. Danish forward Yussuf Poulsen is the player to keep an eye on going forward. He is Leipzig’s top scorer with 15 goals so far this season – six short of the Bundesliga’s leading scorer Robert Lewandowski – and he also bagged a hat-trick last time out at the Red Bull Arena. Leipzig have won each of the last two meetings at home to Wolfsburg too, and it’s tough to see the visitors stopping this from being three in a row. Leipzig are simply too organised and lethal, while Wolfsburg too inconsistent against sides within the top four. Our prediction: 2-0 Leipzig.
