swansea vs brentford Tip Reason:

At the start of the season, Swansea fans would’ve been hoping that their side could make a swift return to the top flight of English football, though 37 games into the Championship campaign, the Swans look set for at least another year outside of the Premier League, as they’re currently 12 points shy of the top six. Recent form has been poor as far as Graham Potter’s men are concerned, so they’ll be looking to regain the winning thread in front of a home crowd on Tuesday evening. Swansea are currently on a poor run of form, but some of their recent efforts have been far better than results would have us believe. They did come off second best against Forest on Saturday, but they were anything but outplayed, as they bettered their opponents in terms of expected goals, shots and shots on target. In fact, the Swans have outperformed their opponents in terms of expected goals in each of their last five Championship matches, so it’s probably fair to say that they’ve not been getting the rub of the green. On their own patch, the Swans have looked like a useful side for some time. Potter’s men have won each of their last two at Liberty Stadium, while they’ve lost none of their last five in front of a home crowd. As well as getting positive results at home, Swansea have delivered several pleasing performances of late. They’ve easily bettered their opponents in terms of expected goals in their last four, posting figures of 3.22. 1.52, 1.99 and 1.65 for, while they’ve conceded numbers of just 0.28, 0.78, 0.29 and 1.11. In truth, a repeat of any of their recent home displays would surely be enough to get the better of a Brentford side that has struggled away from home in recent times. Brentford remain a decent side, though their efforts away from home have been relatively weak of late. Thomas Frank’s men have won just two games on the road all season, while they’ve lost three of their last five. In addition, the Bees have struggled to impose themselves offensively when playing away from home, both in terms of creativity and goals scored, as their averages of 1.05 goals for and 1.18 expected goals for suggest. As well as avoiding playing their best attacking football away from the comforts of home, Brentford haven’t exactly excelled from a defensive point of view either. They’ve conceded more goals than they’ve scored, shipping an average of 1.58, while they’ve also surrendered more expected goals than they’ve created, leaving them with a negative average expected goal difference of -0.24. Such a figure isn’t appalling, but it suggests that Brentford have been anything but tough to face on their travels. From the betting point of view, in all honesty, it’s relatively straightforward to make a case for the hosts at the current prices. Their efforts on home soil, at both ends of the pitch, have been far more impressive than Brentford’s on the road, especially of late. Keeping this in mind, the current price available on a home win looks somewhat generous and should thus be taken.
