utrecht vs sittard Tip Reason:

As things stand, Utrecht are where they want to be; they’re currently inside the top seven and are thus in with a chance of playing in the Europa League next season. However, the job is far from complete, as Dick Advocaat’s men are just three points clear of Willem, who’re also competing for one of the final play-off places. It’s been a poor few weeks for Utrecht; they struggled massively away against Den Haag recently, losing by five goals to nil, while they also lost away against lowly Emmen last time out. On both of those occasions, Advocaat’s men struggled to both keep things tight and create more than they conceded. Fortunately, on their own patch, Utrecht have done much better in terms of both creating chances/scoring goals and stop their opponents. Wednesday’s hosts haven’t won at home all that often of late, but they’ve done a good job of avoiding defeat, as they’ve gone five games without tasting defeat in front of a home crowd. The most impressive aspect of Utrecht’s play at home of late has been their defensive strength. Other than games against Feyenoord and PSV, both of whom are in the top three, Wednesday’s hosts have given very little away. They’ve recently shut out the likes of Vitesse, Groningen and Excelsior at this venue, while they’ve conceded a very pleasing average of just 0.93 goals at home this season. Add in the fact that they’ve scored an average of 1.67 and the hosts look useful. In contrast, Sittard have made a habit of giving lots away on the road, while they’ve not exactly thrived offensively either. Wednesday’s visitors have lost each of their last seven travelling matches, conceding no less than 26 goals and scoring just five in the process. Aside from shipping an abundance of goals on their travels of late, Sittard boast some rather displeasing underlying figures away from home. They’ve shipped an average of 2.32 expected goals, while they average just 0.95 at the other end. From a betting point of view, ‘Utrecht to Win to Nil’ makes some appeal at the current prices. The hosts have far more offensive quality than their visitors, while they’ve also made a habit of shutting out teams outside of the top three in recent times at home, while the visitors have been known to struggle immensely going forward on their travels. Sittard come into this game having failed to score in four of their last six on the road. Furthermore, when the pair met earlier in the campaign, Sittard clocked just 0.55 expected goals for. All things considered, in a game where the visitors are clearly the weaker side, backing the hosts, who’re no mugs defensively, to win without giving a goal away is the best option.
