werder-bremen vs freiburg Tip Reason:

Werder Bremen came from a goal down to secure a respectable 1-1 draw away to Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend. Florian Kohfeldt’s men remain unbeaten in 2019 across all competitions (W5 D6 – nine league and two DFB Pokal) and they’re also one of only two teams in Europe’s top five leagues – along with PSG – to have scored in every league game so far this season. A win on Saturday could take Werder back within reach of the top six, meaning that both European football in 19/20 and German cup silverware this season are possibilities. Contrastingly, it’s been a difficult year for Freiburg. A record win over Augsburg – a 5-1 home thrashing at the end of February – has been contrasted with a few less inspiring performances, including that of last weekend’s 5-0 loss in Mainz. Coach Christian Streich looked to have addressed the “lack of stability” that he criticised his side for before that – drawing to both Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayern Munich in the two prior – but such a defeat could put them back at square one. Fortunately for the South Germans, the relegation zone remains a distant threat. Bremen and Freiburg were pretty much neck-and-neck at the halfway point in the season, but given their recent bloom, the hosts look a good price to come away from the Weserstadion with a result. As mentioned before, Freiburg aren’t the most consistent side at the minute, and it’s been away from home where they’ve struggled to get results the most – Streich’s men have won just two on the road all season (W2 D5 L7). Meanwhile, Bremen’s form since returning from the winter break indicates that Florian Kohfeldt has made something click going into 2019. His side has won three of their last four at home, scoring 12 goals in the process, an average of three per game. Such a bet is made even more viable by the fact that Bremen have a higher win percentage against Freiburg (57%) than against any other current Bundesliga side. It follows on then that they also average more goals per game (2.24) against Saturday’s visitors than against any other current Bundesliga side too. Freiburg’s thrashing last weekend leaves them particularly vulnerable for the hosts to take advantage, however, with Bremen themselves tallying just one clean sheet in their last ten, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the visitors get on the scoresheet too. Our prediction: 3-1 Werder Bremen.
