hibernian vs aberdeen Tip Reason:

Hibs will host 4th-placed Aberdeen on Sunday at Easter Road in the final game of the Scottish Premiership season. Can the Dons make it into Europe? After an impeccable start from manager Paul Heckingbottom, Hibs’ unbeaten run under the Englishman finally came to an end a couple of weeks ago. The Edinburgh side had appointed the ex-Leeds United boss following the abrupt departure of Neil Lennon, and Heckingbottom had a tough job on his hands. However, the Hibees have thrived under him, winning their initial trio of games. A defeat to Celtic in the Scottish FA Cup didn’t affect their league form. They continued to avoid defeat for the following 7 games, in the Premiership, winning 3 times and drawing 4- with Kilmarnock, Celtic, Rangers and Hearts. However, the post-split fixtures have been tough on the Hibees in recent weeks, losing their last couple of outings 1-0, although both fixtures were away from home and against 2 hungry sides in Rangers and Kilmarnock. Aberdeen’s season is taking a dramatic turn and the Dons will be extremely eager to get a final win to continue to fight for their place in Europe next year. It was bad enough for Derek McInnes’ side to lose 2nd place to Rangers, but the added complication of Kilmarnock also doing well this league campaign means that the Granite City team could achieve nothing at the end of the week. Aberdeen’s form has been relatively inconsistent in recent weeks, as they have yo-yoed between winning and losing since mid-March. They’ve won 4 of their last 8 games, losing the remaining games too, although one of them was a 3-0 defeat to Celtic in the Scottish FA Cup. The Dons have managed to beat Motherwell, Dundee, Kilmarnock and Hearts, whilst also losing to the Jambos, Celtic on 2 occasions and Rangers at the end of April. Hibs have nothing to play for going into this final game of the season, as it is unlikely that Hearts could better their goal difference with a single game of football to be played. However, Aberdeen are currently tied on points with Kilmarnock and they are both battling it out for 3rd place, which means that the Dons realistically need a win here to ensure that they can keep their European dream alive. We believe that Aberdeen’s desire to finish 3rd is what will give them all 3 points here, which is why we’re backing them to win & both teams to score, with a final score of 2-1.
