saint-etienne vs nice Tip Reason:

Saint-Étienne currently sit 4th in Ligue 1 but a win here would see them guarantee at least Europa League football for next season. It would also give them a great chance of finishing 3rd if Lyon fail to win but after Sainté lost last week, that doesn’t look likely. Saint-Étienne had a great chance to put themselves in Champions League contention but the nerves got to them as they lost 1-0 to Montpellier despite winning the four previous games. They now need to keep their heads and win their last two games and with them in such fine form before the Montpellier loss, they are very capable of just that. They have scored 19 goals in their last eight games and kept four solid clean sheets in that time. The couldn’t find their usual attacking flair against Montpellier but have to kick on against Nice as Sainté haven’t guaranteed 4th place yet with the team below them just four points away with two games to go. Nice have been rather inconsistent with their form in recent weeks with three draws a win and a loss making it pretty messy reading for fans. They did manage to draw with PSG a few weeks ago (1-1) but levelled that out with a horrible result at home to an almost relegated Caen side (0-1). Nice manager Patrick Vieira has been linked with a few high-profile jobs, mainly Lyon, but his side has struggled to consistently turn up in matches over the last few months and this needs to be sorted out in the last two games of the season if he is looking for a move to a bigger club. Nice have picked up a reputation for having one of the best defences in the league but with just one clean sheet in their last four games, they have struggled to justify those claims. PSG, Nantes and Caen all managed to convert past Walter Benitez and with them conceding 18 goals in their last eleven away games, they could struggle here against a determined Sainté side. These teams drew 1-1 when they last met in December and these fixtures have usually been very tight with two wins apiece over the last five meetings and four of them seeing under 2.5 goals. We’re backing another tetchy affair with the stakes so high for Sainté. Nice have won just one of their last dozen away games though and as a result we’re backing the home side to win 1-0. Saint-Étienne have kept two clean sheets in their last three home games and with Nice scoring just twice in their last seven away matches, we’re expecting it to be rather comfortable for les Verts.
