monchengladbach vs rb-leipzig Tip Reason:

Borussia Monchengladbach coach Marco Rose should be satisfied enough with his side’s start to the season. After a solid defensive performance at home to Schalke in their opening game (0-0), his side were much more impressive at the other end, scoring three away to Mainz (3-1) last weekend. Gladbach are starting to show similarities to Rose’s former club Red Bull Salzburg in their style of play. Goals from last season’s top scorer Alassane Plea and new signing Breel Embolo will add some confidence going forward in the continued absence of captain Lars Stindl and winger Jonas Hoffman. Julian Nagelsmann maintained his perfect start as manager of RB Leipzig with a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend. Timo Werner, who committed his future to the club earlier this week by signing a four-year contract, got on the scoresheet for a second consecutive game before being subbed off early with a minor injury. Nagelsmann is not expected to make any changes to the teamsheet, however. Werner should return to the starting XI to partner Yussuf Poulsen up front again this weekend. Poulsen, who was the Red Bulls’ second top scorer last season (15 goals), will be happy to have gotten his first of the season last weekend too. Looking at betting markets, the coming together of these two sides does often mean goals – in fact, both teams have scored in 66% of their prior meetings. Leipzig are yet to prove themselves over their defensive failings from the tail end of last season and Gladbach’s attacking record and lack of defensive form at Borussia Park was good for the goals markets at the late stages of the 18/19 campaign too. New Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann is also known for favouring a strong offence over a strong defence. When managing Hoffenheim last season, his side scored the third-most goals in the Bundesliga (70). However, they also conceded more than any other side in the top half, which ultimately saw them finish 9th – notably both teams scored in a massive 82% of their games last term. Gladbach are, however, without a win in each of their last six Bundesliga meetings with RB Leipzig (D2 L4), losing each of their three at home against them. And going off the two sides’ opening two performances, Leipzig look like the side you’d want to be backing to come out ahead. With Gladbach conceding exactly two goals in three of their last four Bundesliga home outings, we like RB Leipzig to clinch it 2-1.
