west-brom vs reading Tip Reason:

A 2-1 victory at Luton has slightly eased concerns for the Baggies, but the hosts aren’t doing enough to dominate games going forward. They were limited to hitting the target only three times across 24 shots on goal. While they continue to control possession and look good for the points, they aren’t clinical enough to rack up a high scoring win or solid enough for a 1-0. That’s an issue as they prepare to face Reading – a side who are coming off a massive victory which has boosted their hopes for the campaign. The hosts seem to have built up their side well this season. They’ve added quality in the middle of the park, brought through young players and replaced any major departures in the side. After their fifth-place finish, last term the mood should be high, especially given Slaven Bilic has taken the reins. However, their performances aren’t quite clicking yet. With seven points on the board, it’s not quite doom and gloom, but the Baggies should be concerned about their defence. After four games without a clean sheet, they’re starting to look too open. There are even more calls for concern when you look at Reading, who just hit three goals against Cardiff on Sunday. George Puscas hit a brace to fire the Royals to that victory, while he could be vital in lifting the club away from the drop zone this term. However, Puscas needs to inspire Reading to a better away record if he’s going to make a major impact. The visitors have failed to win in six Championship games on the road, losing 10 and winning just two of their 23 trips last season. On the bright side, Reading are at least scoring on their travels. Their 2-1 loss at Hull City was the fifth consecutive away league game in which they’ve found the net. They have scored five times across their first three games of the season, while they scored away to six of the top eight in the Championship last term. Now the visitors look improved going forward, so they should be a threat here. West Brom have seen both teams score in four games this term, while they have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven Championship matches. All of those six have seen both teams score, while the hosts have managed only two clean sheets across their last 12 in this division. Last term saw 83% of their home matches finish with both teams scoring, while we see great value on a repeat here. We’re going with BTTS as our prediction in this one, while we’re backing Reading to claim a 1-1 draw.
