west-ham vs norwich Tip Reason:

Ahead of their meeting this weekend, both West Ham and Norwich City were involved in mid-week Carabao Cup action on Tuesday, though the Hammers fared far better than their Premier League rivals against lower-league opposition. West Ham battled their way to a 2-0 victory in Wales against League Two side Newport County in their cup test, securing their second win on the spin after their 3-1 triumph at Watford just a few days earlier. In stark contrast, a much-changed Norwich team fell to an embarrassing 0-1 reverse at League Two’s Crawley Town, a result that ended their Carabao Cup adventure with a shameful bang. The defeat extended the Canaries run without a clean sheet to four matches – a leaky sequence that’s almost guaranteed to continue this weekend. The blank West Ham secured at Newport was a welcome one and the team’s first of the season, though Irons supporters won’t expect their notoriously porous backline to repeat the trick when they get back to Premier League action on Saturday. West Ham shipped seven goals in their opening trio of 2019/20 league fixtures, and though a free-scoring Man City side plundered five of those in an opening day evisceration, Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini will be concerned at his team’s overall inability to keep things tight across the back, after his team allowed Brighton and then Watford in to score on match days two and three. In total, West Ham have kept only two clean sheets in their last twelve Premier League outings, however, the goal-scoring threat offered by the Irons at the other end is a positive counter to their defensive frailties. West Ham’s 0-5 defeat to City was the only Premier League fixture in eight that they failed to register, and the Hammers’ talented, if enigmatic frontline should have plenty of joy against a Norwich City team that has conceded eight times in three league games since their promotion. The Canaries’ brand of open, attacking football has already made them one of the most exciting teams to watch in the Premier League this term – an average of 4.66 goals hit the net across their first three matches of the season, and we expect their latest contest in London to hit similar numbers. Both teams also scored in 100% of Norwich’s league games so far this season, and we expect that percentage to stay perfect this weekend. The statistics suggest that backing the both teams to score and over 2.5 goal combination is a smart move in a fixture that’s dripping with goalscoring potential. Our correct score prediction of 3-2 to West Ham follows along the same lines, and with goals and scoring chances expected to be plentiful, we think new Irons centre-forward Sebastien Haller is worth considering in the anytime goalscorer market. The Frenchman’s confidence should be soaring after he notched his first two Premier League goals last week in West Ham’s impressive win at Watford.
