atalanta vs torino Tip Reason:

Torino lost 2-1 at Wolves on Thursday night to exit the Europa League. It was a tough night for Il Toro, so saw an early exit to their highly anticipated European adventure. However, a year ago Atalanta went out at the same stage only to finish third in Serie A and land themselves a Champions League clash with Man City this autumn. Following two impressive seasons for both clubs, the pair meet in Bergamo on Sunday. Atalanta have had an easier summer than last season, which left them traipsing around Europe in the Europa League qualifiers. They got their season up and running with a comeback at SPAL to win 3-2, which saw la Dea win for the sixth time in seven Serie A games. They approach this game in great form, while they are eager to prove last season’s top four berth wasn’t a fluke. With a talented side behind them, the hosts remain a side to fear. Torino have played seven times this season as we head into the second weekend of Serie A action. The visitors have been all around Europe, with visits to Hungary, Belarus and England. Those games did give us a taste of a more attacking Torino side, who have seen both teams score in five of their last six games. They’ve moved to a 3-5-2 system with Andrea Belotti and Simone Zaza turning into a smart pairing in attack, which has given Il Toro an added dimension going forward. Torino have seen both teams score in their last four matches, while nine of their last 11 games in all competitions have finished without a clean sheet. They should be confident of causing problems at an Atalanta side who won at home to just one of Serie A’s top seven teams last term. The hosts’ were too open in those six games, both scoring and conceding 11 times. Atalanta head into this game with both teams scoring in their last five Serie A games. Nine of their last 11 home matches have seen both teams find the net, while we have little faith in the hosts after their weak display at a limited SPAL outfit. They conceded 1.48 Expected Goals against in that loss, a sure sign that their defence remains too open. The loss of last term’s star centre-half Gianluca Mancini has been a blow too, so BTTS is the best option here as far as we’re concerned. With Atalanta winning one of the last five meetings between these two, we’re also going with a 1-1 draw.
