roma vs sassuolo Tip Reason:

With two points from two games, this probably isn’t the start Paulo Fonseca had anticipated. The new Roma boss may have held Lazio to a draw before the international break, but can he finally get his first win on the board at the Stadio Olimpico? He may have a tricky time this weekend, given that Sassuolo are off to a stronger start. The hosts are set for a tough season, with pressure on them to return to the top four. They have to manage those expectations alongside featuring in the Europa League, which has been known to hold sides back in their chase for Europe in the past. Now coping without club legends Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi, Roma also need work to win over the home support. Sassuolo were able to take steps forward under Roberto De Zerbi last term, which saw them play a more attacking brand of football than they did after losing Eusebio Di Francesco to Roma. However, last weekend’s 4-1 win over Sampdoria shows what they are capable of, the only issue is they struggle to replicate it on the road. Last term brought only four away wins for Sassuolo, who finished up in 11th place overall. The bad news is they were exactly the sort of side who Roma dispatched last term. The Giallorossi won just one of their home meetings with the top five. Outside of that their record here was nearly perfect (W11 D2 L1). They won at home to the six sides directly behind them, including a 3-1 success over Sassuolo. The problem for Roma was their defence, as Juventus and Frosinone were the only sides who failed to score against them here last term. They finished up last term with both teams scoring in 74% of their home games, while they have seen both teams score in every home meeting with Sassuolo since 2013. Roma have started this season with BTTS landing in both games, as have the visitors. Meanwhile, Sassuolo have scored in their last seven away trips, losing the last three. With the visitors losing to six of the top seven last term, we see a Roma win and both teams to score as the best bet in this one. Given the gap between these two sides, we can see a few goals on Sunday. Roma hit three in their opener, while Sassuolo scored twice or more in just 32% of their away trips last season. Given that record, we are going with a 3-1 home victory at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend, which would get Fonseca up and running in the capital.
