getafe vs granada Tip Reason:

The midweek round of fixtures in Spain draws to a close at Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Thursday night live on Premier Sports 1, as newly promoted Granada aim to prolong their shock status as La Liga leaders with a win over Getafe. Barcelona’s 5-1 romp over Valladolid on Tuesday evening was sufficient to usurp Granada from top spot just a couple of days after Diego Martinez’ side stole the headlines with their 1-0 win against Real Betis, but Nazaries can immediately return to the summit if they are able to clinch all three points from this fascinating midweek encounter. They have been priced up at around the 7/2 mark to do just that, odds which look quite fair considering they have won six of their ten games this season and are seven points better off than Getafe, who go into this fixture having lost two matches in the past week. Pepe Bordalas’ side appeared to be building a head of steam following a 1-2 away success in the Europa League against Krasnodar and consecutive La Liga successes against Real Sociedad (1-2) and Leganes (2-0), but they have been turned over by Swiss side Basle (0-1) and beaten by Sevilla (2-0) in the last seven days. Nonetheless, the host’s only La Liga defeat at the Coliseum this term came against Barcelona (0-2) at the end of September and they have otherwise bagged eight points from four outings in front of their own fans. Although a repeat of last season’s 5th place finish will be difficult for Getafe this around, they at worst remain a solid yardstick in La Liga and will be desperate to bounce straight back here to force their way back into the top half of the table. Granada are expected to face a stern examination in this game then, and whilst they may be up to the task having only lost to Real Madrid from five outings on the road this term (W2, D2, L1), on balance the match betting is best swerved for a fixture that is too tight to call. Instead, we’re backing both teams to score here at generous odds-against. That’s been the outcome in the last five meetings between the teams, whilst hosts Getafe have managed to keep just one clean sheet in ten league games so far this season. The Madrid outfit have though scored in six of their last seven La Liga games at home, and that bodes well for them against a Granada team who have shipped nine goals in their five away assignments. Although we anticipate both teams scoring, this should be a low scoring affair overall as both teams have seen under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their ten league fixtures this season. With that stat in mind, 1-1 appeals as the most likely scoreline for Thursday’s action at the Coliseum.
