liverpool vs tottenham Tip Reason:
Liverpool saw their mask of perfection slip for the first time in the Premier League last weekend, producing a laboured performance at Old Trafford against an invigorated Manchester United side. Eventually they found their range though, and substitute Adam Lallana poked in late on to maintain Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the league season. Jurgen Klopp’s outfit still hold an impressive lead at the top of the table too, sitting six points clear of reigning champions Manchester City but knowing that the next few weeks could be crucial. They face Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester City over the next three weeks, so getting that momentum back could prove vital. They may have only picked up a point last weekend, but their Premier League record is still absolutely phenomenal. They are unbeaten in the league since the first game of 2019 and have won 17 of their last 18 matches. This record only gets better at Anfield too, with 11 top flight wins on the bounce and an unbeaten record that stretches back to April 2017. That won’t make for pleasant reading for Tottenham fans, especially when they find their team in such a shambolic state. They managed to claw back a shred of confidence in midweek as they demolished Red Star Belgrade, but they have only won four of their 13 competitive games this season and already have a number of humbling defeats to their names. This includes a 7-2 humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich and a 3-0 loss at Brighton, with the latter hinting at an away record that is utterly abysmal. Spurs have failed to win each of their last 10 Premier League away days, losing eight of them and conceding 19 goals in the process. To make matters worse, they have won just one of their last 13 league meetings with Liverpool and have lost five of their last eight Premier League trips to Anfield. Liverpool are currently on a three match competitive win streak against the North Londoners, and with such an emphatic home record we can’t see beyond a Liverpool win on Sunday. Liverpool, however, have failed to keep a clean sheet in all four home league games this season, so we’re expecting Spurs to get on the scoresheet at Anfield. Two of Liverpool’s four league games here have ended 3-1, so we’re backing that for our correct score prediction.
