norwich vs aston-villa Tip Reason:

Two of the three clubs promoted to the Premier League this season meet on Saturday, when Norwich City entertain Aston Villa at Carrow Road, though the sides have more than their Championship success of last year in common. After seven rounds of Premier League fixtures, Norwich and Villa sit side by side in 17th and 18th place, having amassed six and five points respectively since the summer. While both clubs have impressed at times and earned plaudits for some competitive performances, Norwich and Aston Villa continue to find the step up from England’s second tier tough overall. The Canaries’ 3-2 win over defending champions Manchester City on September 14th was equal parts impressive and unexpected, though that victory stands alone in a run of four Premier League defeats in five. Norwich conceded twice en-route to their win that afternoon, and leaking goals has been a major problem that Daniel Farke has found difficult to address. Only Watford (20) have shipped more Premier league goals than Norwich (16) so far this term, though the Hornets goals against stats were warped somewhat by their 8-0 thrashing at Man City. Similarly, Aston Villa are without a win in four, and Dean Smith’s charges have managed to win just once overall since their return to the top of the English football pyramid. Away from home, Villa’s record reads three defeats from three, though tough fixtures at Spurs, Palace and Arsenal were always going to be difficult games to navigate for a newly promoted outfit. Nevertheless, Villa would have expected to have started the campaign in more positive fashion following their major summer transfer outlay, though we expect their away day misery to continue this weekend. Both Norwich’s Premier League wins to date in 2019/10 were secured at Carrow Road, and the Canaries notched a noteworthy eight goals across the three matches they played on their own patch since early August. Over 2.5 goals hit the net and both teams scored in each of those contests, and that’s where we feel the best value lies for Norwich’s meeting with Villa on Saturday. Alongside the healthy 4.33 goals per Premier League game average at Carrow Road this season, our prediction is supported by the recent head-to-head record between Norwich and Villa. Over 2.5 goals were registered with both teams getting in on the act in each of the last four meetings between the clubs, though Norwich took maximum points in 100% of the most recent three of those games. We’re backing the Canaries to find a way to beat Villa again on Saturday, and with goals and end-to-end action likely, we’re tipping the home side to win 3-2.
