marseille vs brest Tip Reason:

Marseille have started to put together a great little run as of late, notching up three wins on the bounce. Two of them came against top opposition in Lyon and Lille, with the most recent victory coming last week against a down-and-out Toulouse side. They have been very efficient in their work, scoring six goals in that time despite not creating a bucketload of chances; but they’ll be hoping to create a bit more here as they return to the South coast. Their away from has very much been Marseille’s Achilles’ heel in recent weeks and, even though they managed to pass the test in Toulouse last week, they’ll be happy to be back in front of their own fans. Les Olympiens are unbeaten in their last six games at the Stade Vélodrome, winning four times. They have kept two clean sheets in this period, which isn’t incredible, but they have conceded the least chances of any Ligue 1 side in this time. So there are many positives to take from this sample of matches. Brest travel to the South coast winless in three and with an away record seeing them win just one of their last six games on the road. Les Ty’Zefs haven’t enjoyed the rub of the green in recent weeks, as they have slumped down to 13th in the table. Quite the fall from grace when you realise they were sixth at the end of October. However, stats show this drop in form had probably been coming. Despite their lofty league position just a few weeks ago, Brest currently sit second bottom for chances created and second top for chances conceded. Rather damning numbers. They were lucky again last weekend as they drew 1-1 with Nantes. The Canaries really dominated the match with 67% of the chances. With Brest travelling to the home of a team bang in form and keen to keep chasing PSG, we don’t hold a lot of confidence in the visitors here. Brest have gotten away with a lot of results recently and we feel Marseille should be able to put them to the sword in this one, as they have done on many occasions at the Vélodrome. Brest have scored in four of their last five away games, however, so we’re backing this one to finish 2-1 to the hosts. Both teams have scored in four of Marseille’s last five home matches, hence we’re backing this market here.
