liverpool vs everton Tip Reason:

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 17 Premier League games against Everton (W7 D10). Everton haven’t won a league game against Liverpool at Anfield since September 1999. Liverpool kept just two clean sheets in 14 Premier League matches this term. Liverpool scored exactly two goals in five of their last six league wins. Liverpool continue to eke out wins As Liverpool and Everton prepare to contest the 234th Merseyside Derby at Anfield this week, the bitter local rivals find themselves on complete opposite ends of the form spectrum. Liverpool’s relentless pursuit of points continued at the weekend in their hard-fought 2-1 over Brighton in front of the Kop – a performance and result that followed the same pattern of uninspiring but effective Reds displays of the past couple of months. Seven of Liverpool’s last eight Premier League victories were secured by narrow one goal margins, with six of the contests finishing 2-1 to a Reds’ side that have become experts at grinding out top-flight wins. Remarkably, Liverpool have now kept only two clean sheets in 14 Premier League matches since the summer, but no club as yet, has managed to fully capitalise on the Reds’ lacklustre defending. Marco Silva and Everton at a crossroads Everton were turned over in dramatic fashion by Leicester City on Sunday, and the late defeat served to heighten the pressure on under fire boss Marco Silva. The Portuguese boss will be in the Toffees dugout for Wednesday’s game, though a heavy Merseyside defeat could act as the catalyst for change that already feels inevitable. The loss was Everton’s 7th in 10 Premier League matches, and Toffees’ supporters will hold little hope that their team can pull off an upset this week at one of the most difficult grounds to win at in football. Fortress Anfield Liverpool have won each of their last 14 league matches at Anfield, and Jurgen Klopp’s winning machine will expect to grab their 15th straight home victory at Everton’s expense on Wednesday. The Reds have also been utterly dominant in the Merseyside Derby in recent seasons, and on Wednesday, they take a 17-match unbeaten run into their latest test against their neighbours. It’s worth noting however, that Liverpool conceded each of the last seven of those home wins, and shorn of the defensive talents of suspended goalkeeper Allison and first choice anchorman Fabinho, we think the Reds are likely to concede again this week. Despite their overall woes, Everton managed to get themselves on the scoresheet in nine of their 14 Premier League matches this season and in four of their last five games on the road. With the Toffees’ handy habit of notching consolations and Liverpool’s continued troubles at the back a factor, we think there is value in coupling a home win with a both teams to score selection for Wednesday’s derby, while our correct score prediction settles on a 2-1 Liverpool win. Liverpool’s attacking output has been uncharacteristically modest of late, and the Reds scored exactly two goals in five of their last six Premier League wins. We’re backing them to net just two more against an Everton side that they scored just twice against across their last three meetings.
