tottenham vs brighton Tip Reason:

Tottenham go into this game 7th in the Premier League and six points adrift of the top four. Spurs have won four of their six Premier League games since Jose Mourinho’s appointment. Brighton have scored in each of their last five away games, but have still lost three of them. Spurs have averaged 2.11 goals per game at home this season, conceding 1.0 goals per home game at the other end. Honeymoon period over for Jose Mourinho and Spurs Tottenham Hotspur’s results may have improved since Jose Mourinho came on board, but the fact remains that there are still some very serious concerns in North London. Spurs failed their second big test of the Mourinho era on Sunday as they were outclassed by another of his former clubs, losing 2-0 at home to Chelsea and leaving them six points adrift of the top four. This same problem of struggling to cope with attacking sides was seen when they lost 2-1 at Old Trafford earlier this month, and it’s a real problem. However, that problem doesn’t seem so prevalent when they face the smaller clubs in the Premier League. In fact, Spurs have won four of their six league matches under Mourinho, beating West Ham, Bournemouth, Burnley and Wolves and scoring 13 goals in the process. This rediscovered attacking vigour has come at a cost to defensive stability though – they have kept just one clean sheet in these six games. Potter appointment paying dividends at the Amex Stadium Many fans found is more than a bit harsh when Brighton sacked Chris Hughton at the end of last season, and while that may be the case it’s hard to argue at the effectiveness of replacement Graham Potter. The former Swansea man has taken Brighton to 13th in the table at Christmas, and after a difficult start to the campaign they have lost just one of their last four outings. This includes an excellent win away to Arsenal, and now they’ll be looking to add another North London scalp to their list. Both teams find their feet in front of goal The Seagulls still have a few problems on their travels though. They have lost five of their nine trips away this season, winning just twice and failing to keep a clean sheet since September. That being said, they have managed to find the net themselves in each of their last five away days, and they should be able to extend that record on Thursday. That’s because Spurs’ defence has been woeful this season. They have conceded 26 goals in their 18 games so far, keeping a clean sheet just 11% of the time and in only once of their six matches under Mourinho. That being said, Tottenham have only failed to score three times in the league this season too, and their recent defeat against Chelsea ended a run of nine matches in which they’d found the net. All things considered, backing Both Teams to Score looks the best option here, and we’re expecting a Spurs win too. The hosts have looked very strong against the less capable teams since Mourinho’s arrival, and throughout this season they have averaged 2.11 goals per game and conceded just 1.0 goal per game at home. Brighton, meanwhile, have scored 1.0 goal per game on the road and conceded 1.67 at the other end, making a 2-1 correct score prediction attractive.
