brighton vs chelsea Tip Reason:

Both teams registered in seven of Brighton’s last nine matches. Goals were scored by both teams in eight of Chelsea’s last nine Premier League away fixtures. Chelsea took 21 points from the last 27 available on the road. Chelsea beat Brighton in each of their last five top-flight meetings. Both clubs searching for successive wins Brighton ended their four-match winless run at the weekend with a much-needed 2-0 win over Bournemouth in a south coast tussle at the Amex Stadium, and the Seagulls will hope to make home advantage count again when they host Chelsea at the same venue on Wednesday evening. The Blues enjoyed a positive run out themselves in their last outing, coming from behind to snatch a late turnaround win at London rivals Arsenal in Sunday’s televised offering. That dramatic confidence-building triumph was Chelsea’s second Premier League away victory on the spin, however overall consistency is still proving elusive for Frank Lampard’s men who were turned over in five of their last eight top-flight assignments. Chelsea’s defensive problems Chelsea’s recent problems have largely been rooted in their inability to keep clean sheets, and the Blues kept their opponents of the scoresheet just once in their last eight Premier League matches since early November. In total this term, Chelsea have shipped 28 goals in the Premier League this term – a figure that lumbers the Blues with the second worst defensive record in the division’s top nine. With Kepa Arrizabalaga still proving inadequate between the sticks, and protection in front of the Spanish stopper limited, we expect Chelsea to concede again this week against a Brighton team who carry a decent attacking threat at home. Stats suggest both teams will score Albion rattled the net two or more times in five of their last seven league fixtures on home turf, and with their possession-heavy style continuing to develop under Graham Potter, the slick-passing seagulls should find some joy against a lacklustre Chelsea rearguard. Like Chelsea however, Brighton routinely struggle to keep the door shut at the other end, and their 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday was their first shutout in nine attempts. Both teams registered in seven of those nine fixtures, and with Brighton and Chelsea both mixing underwhelming defensive performances with some sparkling attacking play, we think there is value in backing both to score again on Wednesday. Goals went in at either end in eight of Chelsea’s last nine away contests, though their superb record on the road since the summer pushed us towards tipping them to win 2-1 in our correct score prediction. The Blues are statistically the second best performing away team in the Premier League this season, taking 21 points from a possible 27 directly after their 0-4 mauling at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the campaign. Chelsea’s attackers seem to excel in the wider spaces afforded to them as the counter-attacking visiting team, and having averaged 2.66 goals per 90 minutes of away game action across their last nine matches away from Stamford Bridge, we’re backing them to grab two more against Brighton on Wednesday.
