verona vs genoa Tip Reason:

Genoa are chasing back to back league wins for the first time since September 2018. Genoa have failed to win away from home all season, losing over half of their trips. Verona have a 100% winning record against the bottom 6 so far. The hosts have won four of those five victories while keeping a clean sheet. Decisive Day for Genoa Genoa have made a mixed start to 2020, with a league win and a Coppa Italia exit on their hands. They went to extra time and penalties at Torino in midweek, which could be seen as progress. However, will that take a toll on the Grifone ahead of a potentially vital encounter with Hellas Verona on Sunday? This is a meeting between a Verona side who are exceeding expectations and a Genoa outfit who are facing relegation. The visitors are second-bottom heading into the weekend, while Verona are storming away from the bottom three despite starting the campaign as a clear contender for the drop. Will the hosts put more distance between themselves and the bottom three here? Grifone Hoping for Better The visitors are hoping their two decent results this year have been the result of new boss Davide Nicola, who could really turn their fortunes around. However, it would be pretty unprecedented for him to pick up three points with the Grifone this week. Genoa enjoyed a 2-1 win last time out in Serie A – the last time the Rossoblu won two consecutive league games was back in September 2018, under Davide Ballardini. Nicola will still hope for his second win in his just second Serie A game on the Genoa bench: although, in his two previous managerial roles, he recorded his second Serie A victory after seven games with Udinese and after 16 matches with Crotone. Two from two – or even two from three including the cup – seems unlikely in a difficult trip. Away Woes for Visitors The away side aren’t likely to improve things based on their away record. They’ve failed to win an away game all season, with five defeats in nine matches. Now they come into this game against a Verona side who just picked off bottom of the table SPAL away from home, so Genoa could be next. They have a 100% record from their previous five meetings with the bottom six, while Genoa have lost nine of 12 clashes with teams from 13th and above. To make matters worse, Genoa have conceded in 14 of their last 15 Serie A games played on the road against newly-promoted sides. Meanwhile, Only Inter (seven) have kept a clean sheet in more Serie A games than Verona (six) this season, while only Lecce (one) have kept fewer clean sheets than Genoa (two) this term. We see Verona winning this and we’re backing them to win it to nil. They’ve won to nil in four of their five wins over the league’s bottom six, while Genoa have failed to score in three of their last five in the league. With the hosts in fifth place in the defensive standings, we’re going for a home win and a 2-0 victory for Verona.
